Young people can get rheumatism as well.
That's why FNUG - The Danish Organisation of Youth with Rheumatism exists. Here we meet, and of course talk about rheumatism, and everything which goes with it, but like everyone else, we are also concerned about a lot of other things...
FNUG has existed since 1983 as an organisation for young people with rheumatism. In FNUG we exchange thoughts and problems and in the meantime have fun. |

FNUG also works for young people with rheumatism in order to give them an easier life, and increase the everyone's knowledge, that not only elderly people gets rheumatism.
You can become a member of FNUG, if you have rheumatism, and are in between the ages of 12 to 36. Everyone who doesn't fulfil our membership-criteria (age and rheumatism), has the possibility of becoming a support-member. It costs 150 DKr a year to be a member/support-member of FNUG. Four times a year everyone gets the FNUG-magazine.
FNUG arranges national and local meetings.
FNUG consists of a board by 9 people: Chairman, treasurer, secretary, 4 ordinary board-members and 2 deputy members. The board is selected at the annual general assembly.
FNUG also has a number of local contactpersons, who are connected with the three areas we have divided Denmark into:
- Northern- and Middlejutland
- Fyn and Southernjutland
- Zealand and islands
It is the contactpersons who arrange the local activities of FNUG. The contactpersons also give pieces of advice and guidance to young people with rheumatism and to people who encounter young people with rheumatism in their everyday lives. Once in a while the contactpersons also hold lectures for people from the Health-section, among others.
FNUG employs a part-time secretary in our office in Aarhus. The main duties of the secretary are bookkeeping and postal activities. Everyone else in FNUG is a volunteer and not paid for his/her work.
FNUG's work is financed by support from the Danish Rheumatism Association and support from the state lottery-funds by The Danish Youth Council. In addition subscriptions, licence from various funds and grants plus contributions from private persons. |
